A New Generation!

She has just turned 9
and a brand new (girl) cousin needed a little quilt

inspired by the Abundantly Blessed quilt pattern
(a version of Robbing Peter to Pay Paul pattern) from
Bonnie & Camille's Cotton Way
made with their Marmalade in flannel.
She zig-zagged S curves up and down the folded over scallops.

Marmalade Charms became circles.
Bella Porcelain 3.5" squares were glue sticked
onto the center back side of each circle.

Add edge scallops and snip.

Abundantly Blessed uses melon shapes appliqued onto charms stitched together and we decided to modify this so the scallops would become part of the charm of this cute first quilt!

This pattern includes instructions for an easy, raw-edge version of the Cathedral Windows design! Use charm squares to make this 40" x 40" table topper or quilt.

I have provided a link to a great fabric and pattern shop, Shabby Fabrics, where I originally purchased my Abundantly Blessed pattern.  And they are having a great Labor Day weekend sale.

I am very impressed with this beautiful quilt by a lovely young sewer! Would this young sewer be interested in being part of a fall blog hop? I'm hosting it Sept. 19th -26th and would love to have her be my guest and present a simple fall project with tutorial if her schedule will allow it?

That is so sweet but alas she lives in another state and her mom is not a quilter *yet*!

I will try to work with her before she leaves tomorrow to go back to school and capture the step by step on camera.

I will let you know if we were successful. Thank you, again!

What a beautiful first quilt. That is so fantastic that you're teaching her to sew at such a young age. I love the Marmalade fabric line. It is just perfect with this pattern!

Thank you so much for sharing at Needle and Thread Thursday!

Beautiful quilt, and so nice to see a young sewer! I am wondering how I can get my daughter-in-laws interested in quilting.
